This is a book of eye-popping 3D images to help children
explore the world of stereo vision and nature. Includes 32 pages of 3D wonder
with images for a tarantula, contentment, sea shells, fly, tortoise, and
myrtlewood bowl.
The text is geared for ages 10and up, describing the basic
nuts & bolts of how 3D imagery works, however the reaction of children as young
as 2 ½ yields excellent understanding of their basic binocular vision
capability.
Images are not calibrated for stereopsis. The images are
viewed with redcyan 3D glasses (2 pairs are provided with the book). The book
begins with a wonderful two-page spread of drawn phantograms by Steve Hughes,
and includes some amazing photographic phantograms by Steve Boddy.
Photo shows the book's cover which is not a 3D image. It is
however the right-eye half of a phantogram. It differs from a normal photograph
in that the narrowing effects of perspective have been reversed out.
